“Best” depends on what you need the phone to do. A recovery app should not replace meetings, a sponsor, or medical care. This page is a buying guide with that limit stated up front. InnerAscent’s own terms say it is not treatment, therapy, or a crisis service. If you are in immediate danger, contact local emergency services.
Program basics remain with the fellowships: aa.org and na.org.
What is worth comparing
- Privacy. Can you use a nickname? Is there a public feed you must join? InnerAscent has no public recovery feed. See how anonymity is protected and the privacy policy. Data is protected in transit and at rest. It is not end-to-end encrypted.
- Meetings. Can you find a listing and log attendance you report yourself? Finding meetings near you explains the lookup. A log is not a verified check-in.
- Steps and a journal. Can you write without posting? The 12 Steps explained is the map. Recovery journal prompts are starters.
- A human sponsor. The app should make the ask easier, not pretend to be the sponsor. How to find a sponsor.
- Clean time. A private count from the date you set. The clean time calculator does that math without an account.
- Store and price. Android is on Google Play. The iPhone app is coming soon — ask to be alerted. There is no web app. After a 30-day trial, Premium is $4.99 a month or $39 a year through the store.
The cluster on this site continues with Step 1 explained and what happens at an NA meeting. Side-by-side notes against other products are in the compare section. Those pages use public information and can go out of date. Check each vendor’s own site before you decide.
What a recovery app should refuse
It should not diagnose you. It should not promise that a streak prevents relapse. It should not turn clean time into a public score. Optional AI, if it exists, should be labeled as reflection help. InnerAscent’s assistant says it does not replace a sponsor. More on that limit is in AI recovery companion.
A short list of questions to ask any app
- Can I decline a public profile?
- Can I export or delete my account? Deletion is described at delete account.
- Does sharing with a sponsor start off?
- What happens if I am in crisis — does the app call emergency services? InnerAscent does not. “I need help now” can notify a linked sponsor. It is not 911.

If those answers match how you want to work a program, the Android app is on Google Play. iPhone is not listed yet.
